President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly rejected the request by the Head of Service of the Civil Service of the Federation, Winifred Oyo-Ita, to voluntarily retire from service, following an allegation of corruption leveled against her by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
According to Dailytrust, Oyo-ita was directed to remain in office until investigation that was initiated on her matter suspecting her of malpractice is concluded.
The Head of service has been absent at most public function since the report of her involvement in a 3 billion naira scandal broke out.
However, she showed up at the swearing-in of the new ministers yesterday. She was sighted sitting close to the Chief of staff to the President, Abba Kyari during the function yesterday, though she had earlier visited him in his office.
Oyo-ita was nowhere to be found during the Presidential retreat for the ministers designate held between Monday and Tuesday though she was one of the resource person.
Oyo-ita has come under scrutiny by the Economic and financial Crime Commission (EFCC) for alleged N3billion contract scam. This might have instigated the rejection of her retirement plan by the presidency.
Meanwhile, when Mallam Garba Shehu, the Presidential Spokesperson was contacted on the matter, he disclosed that “Our position in the Villa hasn’t changed. He added, the office handling the matter has not recieved any resignation latter people are talking about.
