Three Policemen detailed to provide physical security at the Abuja home of the former President, Goodluck Jonathan have burgled and carted away his properties worth millions of Naira. The property is reportedly located at No. 89, Fourth Avenue, Gwarimpa District of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC). Emerging reports suggested that the Policemen who were assigned to the facility from the FCT Police Command spent three months stripping the House.
Items stolen from the house include “dozens of plasma television sets, sets of furniture, refrigerators, air-condition units and box-loads of clothes, such as designer suits, Ijaw traditional attires and lace materials".
A source in the Police Command who confirmed the arrest of the Policemen hinted that they would be made to face orderly room trial very soon in accordance with extant Police rules. He revealed that preliminary investigation had indicated that the items were sold to some shop owners at the Panteka Second-hand Material Market situated at Tipper Garage in Gwarimpa. The source who craved anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter also said that operatives were reported by watchful neighbours.
Meanwhile, traders in the market who allegedly bought the stolen items from the policemen have since disappeared.
