Some pensioners in Nasarawa state have raised alarm over allege selective payment of gratuity and monthly pension by the state government. Some of the Pensioners in a chat with NAN claimed that since their retirement in 1995, long before the state was created, they have not been paid their gratuity. They further claimed that most pensioners get paid only when they have connection or godfather to pursue their cases.
According to them;
“Some of us, who retired from active service more than ten years ago are yet to be given our gratuity but those with ‘godfathers’ who retired just in 2016 have received their gratuity. What is the justification for paying people, who retired in 2016 and living those who retired more than 10 to 21 years ago,” they queried.
They further lamented that some of the pensioners that were lucky to have their names shortlisted were given their gratuity piecemeal of N100, 000. They appealed to the state government to intervene on their behalf and address their concern.
Meanwhile, the Director-General, Nasarawa State Pension Bureau, Mr. Abdullahi Sani-Osaze has debunked the allegation. He claimed that the Bureau was working round the clock to ensure that pensioners get their gratuity.
