Following the negative reactions that greeted the inclusion of the names of dead people in the recently published list of Board appointments into some Federal Government agencies and parastatals, President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha to review the list.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu who confirmed the directive in a chat with Punch hinted that the review was aimed at identifying all nominees that need to be replaced on the list. He said those whose names appeared on the list and have left the All Progressives Congress (APC) who be removed. He added that apart from the names of dead people on the list, one of the appointees had died, days after the list was released.

“Yes, I can confirm to you that the process to replace the dead ones has started. We have listened to the concerns raised. The entire list is being scrutinised all over again. They have gone very far and they will be reporting to the President very soon.

“Even after the list was published, one nominee died. They need to take a second look at the entire list. There were also complaints about some persons who had left the party but made the list. We are looking at those ones too with a view to replacing them.”

Punch reports that with the review, the inauguration of the living appointees by the relevant ministers are expected to be put on hold as they may not get their appointment letters until after the revised list must have been approved.

Meanwhile, the Special Assistant said the review process had gone very far and the fresh report would be submitted to the president very soon.
