The former Minister of youth and sport, Solomon Dalung has resigned his membership in the All Progressive Congress (APC). Dalung handed over his resignation letter to his APC ward chairman in Sabin-Gida in Langtang Local Government Area of plateau state. Giving reason for his resignation, the former Minister said, his resignation from APC is with immediate effect, saying he had to throw in the towel as a recent development in the ruling party is going contrary to his values.
In his statement, “This is to convey my withdrawal of membership from the All Progressives Congress with effect from the date of this notice,” the letter signed on April 18 reads.
Dalung added, “It is worthy of mention that recent developments in the party conflict with my core principles of values which define the basis of allegiance to the party.
“Of note is the fact that internal democracy is critical to the survival of representative democracy without which political participation remains a mirage.”
Dalung served as the minister of youth and Sport under President Buhari's government from 2015-to 2019, He took to criticizing the APC after he was not reappointed by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Recall in January, the former minister said the APC failed Nigerians by not delivering on its campaign promises.
