The abducted Dapchi Schoolgirls who were recently released from Boko Haram captives, arrived the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Friday, to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari, Channels Television reports.

The girls who regained their freedom on Wednesday were airlifted to Abuja the same day, aboard a military plane from Maiduguri, the Borno State capital after being handed over to the Federal Government by the military there.

Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj. Gen. Rogers Nicholas, handed over the freed girls to a four-member Federal Government delegation that evening.

Nasir el-Rufai, Governor of Kaduna State

Nasir el-Rufai, governor of Kaduna state, says it is incorrect to say the execution process of the economic and recovery growth plan (ERGP) does not truly reflect the needs of Nigerians.

He said this in response to a statement made by Bill Gates at the expanded national economic council presided over by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo.

“The Nigerian government’s economic recovery and growth plan identify investing in our people as one of three strategic objectives. But the execution priorities don’t fully reflect people’s needs, prioritising physical capital over human capital,” Gates had said.

Following the recent ruling by an Abuja court, the Independent National Electoral Commission in Kogi State on Wednesday announced dates for the commencement of the recall process of the embattled Senator representing Kogi West in the National Assembly, Dino Melaye. According to Punch, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Prof. James Apam, said following appeal court ruling that INEC could commence the recall process, the commission had fixed April 28 as the verification date.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of interfering with the trial of its former National Publicity Secretary, Mr Olisa Metuh.

Mr Metuh is standing trial for alleged money laundering being part of the funds linked with former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd).

In a statement on Thursday by its National Publicity Secretary Kola Ologbondiyan, the PDP called on President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately call the APC and some of its members to order.

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ondo State Chapter has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately ensure the release of the Liya Sharibu, the only Christian girl among the Kidnapped Dapchi girls, who is still in Boko Haram captivity despite the release of others.

The Senate on Thursday rejected one of President Buhari’s nominees for Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), however three others were confirmed for appointment as members. Those confirmed for the appointment are Prof. Adeola Adenikinju, Dr Aliyu Sanusi and Dr Robert Asogwa while , Dr Asheikh Maidugu was rejected.
