Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated German Chancellor, Angela Merkel on her re-election for another term. In a letter to the German leader, the President said he was most delighted to learn of the successful conclusion of the inter-Party negotiations to form a new Government after the last election in Germany.

The Former Vice President, Ach. Namadi Sambo just came off a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari Tuesday afternoon at Villa, refusing to give out any detail.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo was also at the meeting

Arch. Sambo was the Vice President during Goodluck Jonathan’s tenure as President from 2011- 2015.

Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, has accused Innocent Umezulike, a former chief judge in Enugu state, of stealing and doctoring his will.

In a statement issued on his behalf by Uche Anichukwu, his spokesman, Ekweremadu alleged that in 2016, Umezulike in connivance with some politicians broke into the Probate Registry of the state and took away his will.

The lawmaker said after doctoring it, his “perpetrators”, together with the assistance of Okoi Obono-Obla, a presidential aide, started running a smear campaign against him.

“There has been a sustained smear campaign against my person by Mr. Okoi Obono-Obla,” he said.

President Buhari Cancels Trip To Rwanda

President Muhamadu Buhari has cancelled his trip to Kigali, Rwanda, where he was expected to attend the Extraordinary Summit of the African Union scheduled for March 21, 2018.

The Federal Executive Council had on Wednesday, approved for the President to sign the framework agreement for establishing the African Continental Free Trade Area.

But a statement signed on Sunday by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tope Adeleye, noted that certain key stakeholders in Nigeria indicated that they had not been consulted, and therefore had some concerns on the provisions of the treaty.

Clergyman and General Overseer of the Eternal Light of World Christian Church (Worldwide), Dr. Adol Awam, has declared his intention to contest the governorship election in Ebonyi State come 2019 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.

Awam made the declaration in Abakaliki, the state capital, on Monday during an interactive session with newsmen.

He said that his intention to contest the gubernatorial position of the state was borne out of his track record of achievements both in the ecclesiastical realm and political arena.

The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Kukah, has tackled Nasir el-Rufai, governor of Kaduna state, over the crisis rocking the state.

Speaking on Thursday at the burial of Joseph Bagobiri, former Catholic bishop of Kafanchan diocese, Kukah accused the governor of betraying ignorance on the causes of the insecurity in the state.

From kidnapping to sectarian crisis, Kaduna has recorded different acts of violence in recent times.

Kukah recalled that he sought the intervention of the National Peace Commission led by Abdusalam Abubakar, former head of state, during which they met with el-Rufai.

President Buhari Orders Deployment Of NSCDC Personnel To Northeast

President Muhammadu Buhari has instructed that officials of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) be deployed to the northeast to secure secondary schools.

This is part of frantic efforts towards providing more security for students and the community in the northeast at large, following the abduction of over 100 girls from the Government Girls Science Technical College (GGSTC) in Dapchi, Yobe state, about a month ago.
