President Muhammadu Buhari said his administration is slow in fighting corruption is because the system itself is slow. Mr, President made this statement on Tuesday when he hosted Federal Capital Territory community who paid him Christmas homage in his resident in Abuja.

 

President Buhari disclosed this in reaction to some allegation from some quarters that his administration is slow in tackling corruption as the nation main challenge. His words “it’s not Baba (Buhari) that is slow but it’s the system. However, he affirmed that he is going by the system and the nation will get there.

 

Buhari revealed that soon he will embark on his 2019 Presidential campaign aggressively; he disclosed that each geo-political zone of the country will be visited.

 

According to Mr, President, his three focal point of campaign used during his 2015 election and are still relevant. He reiterated that the fight against corruption has just started; securing Nigerian Territory and citizens as well as improving the economy remain his integral part of the administration.

 

“We are keeping our eyes on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) very seriously and we are going out very soon; we will go from geo-political zone to geo-political zone, to reaffirm to electorates our commitment to promises of 2015.

 

He added “These three fundamental items include security, since you have to secure the country before you can govern it and talking about what we have done in that regard, the people of the North-east know better.

 

On improving the economy, Mr, President revealed he will still explore, noting that those who participated in farming have a good testimony which translate to improving the food security.

 

Meanwhile, on corruption, Buhari disclosed is not possible to repeat what he did when he was in military uniform, now that the system is Democracy where people have to be arrested and taken to court with evidence before securing conviction and collect back what was acquired illegally, the whole process is slow. This is why some people are calling him Baba go slow.

 

He further stated, “I am going slowly but whatever the case, I will not accusing those who have abused trust by taking money that does not belong to them. “I will keep on trying to do my best for this country and get back what belongs to the country.”

 

 Muhammed Bello, the FCT Minister expressed satisfaction with the achievements of the Buhari “On behalf of the FCT, we appreciate you for the good works you are doing for the territory.
