The Association for Good Leadership Advocate, Peace and Development, Lagos (AGLPDL) has advised members of Northern Elders Forum (NEF) to commence immediate search for a credible presidential candidate ahead of the 2019 general elections in the event that President Muhammadu Buhari fails to seek reelection.

The Secretary of the Association, Titus Ayoko made the position of the group known in a statement issued on Saturday in Lagos. He stated that Nigerians will not accept a situation where the North would field any candidate because it is their turn to produce the president.

“As a patriotic Nigerian, lover of peace and unity, I strongly advised the Northern Elders Forum in collaboration with the politicians to source for a credible candidate that will be acceptable by Nigerians from the north and it should not be an issue of ‘It is our turn, we field anybody.”

Ayoko expressed full support for the President Muhammadu Buhari's administration stressing that within two years, the government has made appreciable gains in some areas especially security and the war against corruption. He further called on NEF to search for a young, experienced and intelligent politician from the zone to complete the two terms of the North.
