The Federal Government has disclosed that over 753, 307 graduates have submitted applications for the N-Power recruitment, five days after the portal was reopened. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Job Creation, Afolabi Imoukhuede made the disclosure on Sunday while addressing journalists in Asaba, Delta state.
According to him, "the figure has surpassed the total applications from graduates and non-graduates in 2016" which he put at 350, 000.
While giving a breakdown of the fresh applications, Imoukhuede hinted that N-Tech got the highest number of applications with about 470, 456, followed by N-Agro which got 127,315. The former is the teacher and agriculture based component of the programme respectively.
He added that the N-Health received 85,691 applications while the N-Tax aspect of the scheme had 69,842 applications.
The Presidential aide attributed the development to perceive growing confidence in the scheme stressing that graduates who initially refused to apply for the scheme in 2016 have all submitted application, since the scheme is going on smoothly across the country.
He however maintained that despite the growing number of applications, the government will restrict itself to the engagement of 300, 000 graduates in order not to exceed budget estimate captured in the 2017 budget.
On the method of screening, Imoukhuede stated that the process adopted in 2016 will be maintained with minor adjustment to address certain challenges that were observed. The ongoing application will end on July 13.
N-POWER is the social programme initiated by the Federal Government to accelerate job creation and empowerment initiatives under its Social Investment Programme (SIP).
