IPOB, sit-at-home

Socio-economic activities across most parts of Nigeria's South East and some parts of the South-South were grounded Tuesday, as residents complied with the sit-at-home order by pro-Biafra groups to mark the 50 years since the secessionist enclave first existed.

The Federal Government is set to commence the non-graduates scheme component of the N-Power programme in July. Senior Special Assistant to the President on Job Creation (N-Power Scheme), Mr Afolabi Imoukhuede, disclosed to news men in Abuja.

The Federal Executive Council chaired by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has approved a 29-member National Minimum Wage Committee to negotiate with labour unions and work out a new minimum wage. The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige disclosed this on at the end of the weekly meeting of the Council held in the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Wednesday.

The Federal Executive Council has approved the constitution of a National Minimum Wage Committee to kick start the process of deliberations for a new wage for Nigerian workers.
