The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Sunday airlifted the recently released Dapchi schoolgirls back to Maiduguri from where they would be transported to Dapchi, under armed air escort, to reunite with their families. The schoolgirls who were ferried on board C-130 Hercules Aircraft were in Abuja to meet President Muhammadu Buhari and then undergo medical and psychological checks.

Ohaneze Ndigbo, the highest Igbo socio-cultural organization has said that Nigeria was currently collapsing under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari as his administration does not represent the wishes as aspiration of the people. The President of the group, Chief John Nnia Nwodo stated this in an interview with Sunday Sun. He said for the various challenges confronting the country to be addressed, the country must be restructured.

A former Minister of Works and Housing in the Late President Umaru Yar'Adua Administration, Hassan Lawal is dead. According to NAN, he died in the late hours of Saturday after a protracted illness at the Turkish Nizamye Hospital in Abuja. The report quoted a member of the family as saying that his burial will take place on Sunday morning at his home town, Keffi Local Government Area, in Nasarawa State according to Islamic rules.

The Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani has written a short letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, calling for the dissolution of his federal executive council to allow for the appointment of more efficient hands to replace those that are not working. 

The Nigerian army on Saturday described as unfortunate the statement credited to the former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. TY Danjuma (Rtd), wherein he allegedly accused the military of protecting armed herdsmen killing innocent people in Taraba and other states. Speaking at the maiden convocation ceremony of the Taraba State University, Danjuma had said;

President Muhammadu Buhari has promised the people of Zamfara State that the security situation in the country will improve soon.

President Buhari who is in the state on an official visit said this on Thursday, that the state will start experiencing some security improvement before the next rainy season, which is in a few weeks.

While addressing the crowd, he expressed concern over the rate of unemployed youths in the state and the country as a whole, the President promised to support to the youths and bring the rate of unemployment to the barest minimum.
