The former President Olusegun Obasanjo-inspired Coalition for Nigeria Movement on Tuesday denied endorsing the Social Democratic Party as its political platform.

The movement’s position was contained in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja by Omoruyi Edoigiawerie on behalf of its National Steering Committee.

The Ebonyi state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday accused former President Olusegun Obasanjo of attempting to install his political son as President in 2019, stressing that the plan necessitated the push for a third Force. The Chairman of the party, Bar. Onyekachi Nwebonyi disclosed this in a statement released to newsmen in Abakaliki, the state capital. He said although the PDP made Obasanjo all he is today, he had done everything within his power to destroy the party. He called on him to apologize to the party.

President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, on Monday, congratulated Mr. Chile Eboe-Osuji (a Nigerian), on his election as the President of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Saraki in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu, in Abuja, described the development as positive for Nigeria coming a few days after his deputy, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, was appointed a Professor by the Southern University, United States of America, USA.

President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly withheld assent to the amendment on the Electoral Act transmitted to him by the National Assembly, which sought to alter the sequence of the 2019 general elections earlier proposed by Independent National Electoral Commission. According to Dailytrust, the President in a letter to both chambers of the National Assembly on Monday offered three reasons in support of his decision to withhold assent.

The US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Monday evening, arrived the State House, in Abuja for a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.

He was received by the Foreign Affairs Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama at the forecourt of the Villa.

This will be his first trip to Africa as the senior-most US diplomat and since his arrival in the continent last Wednesday; he has visited Ethiopia, Djibouti and Kenya.
