Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday, made a donation of N205 million to the Anglican Church in Nigeria.

The donation was made during the governor’s remarks at the 12th General Synod of Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) in Port-Harcourt.

Wike said N200million was to assist the Church in the buidliong of its national secretariat while N5million was in keeping with the tradition of launching goodwill message.

All Anglican Bishops in Nigeria, led by the Primate, Church of Nigeria, Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh, alongside over a hundred delegates selected from the various Anglican dioceses across the country, are attending the general synod which is the highest decision making organ of the Anglican Church in Nigeria held once in every three years.

The 12th Synod is hosted by the Province of Niger Delta at St Paul’s Cathedral Garrison, Port Harcourt.

Vigil360 correspondent in Port-Harcourt reports that the Archbishop of the host Province, Most Rev. Ignatius Kattey is chairman of the planning committee, while Governor Wike is the co-chairman.
