President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday wrote to the Senate, seeking the confirmation of Anthony Ojukwu as the Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). Ojukwu's nomination was made known after the President of the Senate, Sen. Bukola Saraki read the letter from the President during plenary.


The letter read in part;


“‎In accordance with provisions of Section 8 of the National Human Rights Commission Act 2010, I have the pleasure to present Mr. Anthony Okechuwku Ojukwu for confirmation as the Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission by the Senate.


Please find attached copies of his curriculum vitae while looking forward to your usual expeditious consideration. Please accept, Mr. Senate President, the assurances of my highest esteem.”
