A former Senator who represented Ogun East Senatorial District in the Red Chamber, Lekan Mustapha has defected to the All Progressives Congress from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The former lawmaker who also defected with thousands of his supporters from his District said he was motivated by the developmental strides of the Governor Ibikunle Amosun led government, which he noted will definitely speak for him in the 2019 polls.

“When you have gold, you don’t go about looking for silver. We have gold in the person of Amosun, so there is no need messing around with silver.”

Apart from Mustpha, the former Deputy Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Remi Hassan also dumped the opposition party for the ruling party. He assured the governor of the state of his support going forward.

“Politics is about choice of who you relate with, although people thought I was too critical of Gov. Amosun, I have never questioned his performance.”

Governor Amosun who received the new entrants assured that there will be no discrimination among old and new members of the party.

“Politics is about choice of who you relate with, stating that despite being seen as an antagonist of Amosun, he has never questioned his performance.”
