FIFA inspectors arrived in Morocco on Monday ahead of a three-day assessment of the North African country’s ability to host the 2026 World Cup, the local bid committee said. The five-member FIFA Task Force will begin its inspection on Tuesday, visiting stadiums, training facilities, fan sites and media centres.

Commonwealth Games: Team Nigeria Finishes In 9th Position, Hosts Australia Are Champions

Team Nigeria finished in the ninth position in the final medal standing at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games which ended on Sunday.

It was a step down for Team Nigeria who finished eighth at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

At the end of 2018 Games, Team Nigeria got nine gold, nine silver and six bronze medals, with a total of 24 medals won. Team Nigeria won 11 gold, 11 silver and 14 bronze medals at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Aruna Quadri won Team Nigeria’s last medal at the 2018 Games after clinching silver in the men’s table tennis singles event, losing to Ning Gao from Singapore on Sunday morning.

Oluwatobiloba Amusan

Nigeria’s Oluwatobiloba Amusan won gold in the women’s 100m hurdle final with a time of 12.58 seconds at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia on Friday to increase Nigeria’s gold medal haul at the games so far to eight.

Amusan beat two Jamaican athletes Danielle Williams and Yanique Thompson to the most prized medal.

Williams recorded a time of 12.68 seconds to win silver while Thompson won bronze with a time 12.97 seconds.

Brooklyn Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov on Thursday completed the sale of a 49% stake in the NBA franchise to one of the founders of Chinese e-commerce giant, Alibaba, the NBA franchise announced in a statement. The Nets said Russian billionaire Prokhorov would continue to be the controlling owner of the team, and there would be no changes in the day-to-day management of the franchise following the sale to Joseph Tsai.
