 The nominees for the 2017 African Player of the Year and Africa-based Player of the Year awards were announced on Wednesday in Cairo. Thirty players have been nominated in each of the topmost category. 

The Nigeria Football Federation board on Monday dissolved its standing committees with the exception of the Disciplinary and Appeal Committees. The board at the end of its meeting in Abuja said the committees would be reconstituted in a few weeks.

Nigeria on Sunday swept the medals table to emerge winner of the 2nd Africa Zone 2 Junior swimming Championship at the newly refurbished National Stadium Swimming Pool. Nigeria won 26 gold, 35 Silver and 26 Bronze medals, winning a total of 87 medals. Ghana came second with 12 gold, nine silver and six bronze medals making a total of 27 medals.
