Ahmed Musa Joins Kano Pillars For A Second Stint

Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, has rejoined boyhood club Kano Pillars after more than a decade spell in Europe and Asain leagues. The forward will spend the rest of the 2020/21 season playing in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, since he could not find a European side. Musa with over 40 appearances and 22 goals in the NPFL has agreed to join "Sai Masu Gida" with whom he became the top scorer in 2009 after scoring 18 goals before moving to VVV Venlo in the Netherlands.

The 28-year-old previously played in the NPFL for GBS Football Academy in 2008, Jos University Teaching Hospital Football Club (JUTH F.C.) in 2008/09, Kano Pillars in 20009 - 2012 before featuring for CSKA Moscow, Leicester City and Al Nassr. The Chairman of Kano Pillars, Surajo Jambul, revealed that the ‘Sai Masu Gida’ have agreed to sign Musa until the end of the 2020/21 football season and will be unveiled by the Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, before the resumption of the league.

According to a club statement, "Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, has sensationally returned to Kano Pillars FC for the remainder of the 2020/21 Nigeria Professional Football League season (NPFL). Musa previously played for the Pride of Kano in 2009 where he ended the season as the top scorer in the Nigeria Professional Football League with 18 goals before moving to VVV-Venlo in the Netherlands.”

Shuaibu further disclosed that the club agreed to the deal after due consultations with the player and the League Management Company (LMC) who stood as a mediator to the deal. He added that the club has received a letter from the League Management Company of Nigeria (LMC) that was signed by the Chief Operating Officer, Salihu Abubakar, that Kano Pillars will sign Ahmed Musa as an Elite player of the league till the end of the season.

The four-time NPFL champions are currently joint leaders on the league table with Kwara United with 36 points each from 19 matches, though they sit second due to inferior goal difference.
