Thomas Vermaelen is not a happy man. Marca reports that the Barcelona player has admitted he made a serious mistake by not leaving the club last summer in order to secure regular playing time. The report quoted the Barcelona misfit as saying;
"In the summer I thought that it would be good to stay at Barcelona but now having seen what my situation is like, I can see it is not the case. I am happy to play for Belgium given that for my club I hardly play."
"I am not going to say anything more because the last time I spoke my comments were taken out of context," he lamented.
Although he has found it difficult to secure a place in Barcelona first team, the player appears to be part of Coach Roberto Martinez's plan for the Belgium national team ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup billed to take place in Russia
