Subaru will launch its first-ever plug-in hybrid later this year, with a little assistance from Toyota.

The 2019 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid will use Toyota tech to push Subaru into new realms of fuel efficiency, while minimizing the investment the smaller Japanese automaker needs to make in a new powertrain.

The new vehicle is named Crosstrek Hybrid despite actually being a plug-in hybrid. Chrysler did the same thing with its Pacifica Hybrid minivan, and it’s possible that the naming scheme will cause confusion in both cases.

Scientists have discovered a way to embed hidden information in ordinary text by imperceptibly changing, or perturbing, the shapes of fonts in text.

The method called FontCode, creates font perturbations, using them to encode a message that can later be decoded to recover the message.

It works with most fonts and, unlike other text and document methods that hide embedded information, works with most document types, even maintaining the hidden information when the document is printed on paper or converted to another file type.

Shares in Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (005930.KS) dipped slightly on Friday but trading activity surged after a 50:1 stock split aimed at making it easier for retail investors to buy into the South Korean technology giant.

The shares were trading at 52,200 won ($48.50), down 1.5 percent from the basis price of 53,000 won per share, which Korea Exchange said was calculated by dividing the shares' last pre-split closing price by 50. The benchmark KOSPI .KS11 was down 0.6 percent.

Analysts said trading volumes jumped as more investors traded, and attributed the slightly weaker share price to broad concerns about slowing memory chip market conditions since Samsung Electronics share trading was halted after April 27.
