The National Transportation Safety Board is finishing up its initial examination into the deadly Southwest Airlines engine failure Thursday but many questions remain unanswered.

Investigators can't explain with certainty why the left engine of Southwest Airlines Flight 1380 malfunctioned when the plane was reaching over 32,000 feet. It's too soon to determine what happened, said National Transportation Safety Board Chairman Robert Sumwalt.

Shares of top Chinese manufacturing industries crashed on Wednesday, after capital city Beijing made public plans to phase out ownership limits to foreign shipbuilders, automakers and aircraft firms.

According to the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), China is set to terminate shareholding limits for new energy vehicle firms such as those that produce electric vehicles this year.

Scientists have accidentally developed a plastic-eating enzyme that may be used to combat one of the world's worst pollution problems.

Researchers from Britain's University of Portsmouth and the US Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) made the discovery while examining the structure of a natural enzyme found in a waste recycling center a few years ago in Japan.

They say the enzyme, Ideonella sakaiensis 201-F6, is able to "eat" polyethylene terephthalate, PET, which was patented as a plastic in the 1940s and is used in millions of tons of plastic bottles.

Artificial Intelligence, AI, should never be given the autonomous power to hurt, destroy or deceive people, said a parliamentary report, as ethics should be given priority in the development of AI.

The House of Lords Artificial Intelligence Committee's report - AI in the UK, warned of the danger of AI becoming dominated by a few big firms.
