Recall Vigil 360 reported a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel explosion which occurred in the early hours of 2nd February 2022, at Ukpokiti terminal, Esravos Warri South council of Delta State three persons are fear dead. while seven others missing.
According to community sources, three persons died while seven persons are yet to be found in the sudden explosion which rocked the asset of Shebah Exploration and Production Company Limited (SEPCOL) as against the assertion of SEPCOL stating no report of fatalities as of yesterday.
The FSPO named Trinity Spirit accommodates up to 22,000 barrels of oil daily, injects up to 40,000 barrels of water per day, and store two million barrels of oil. It serves as the primary production facility for OML 108, more so a government-approved terminal for lifting operation of all OML 108 production.
The Chief Executive Officer, Shebah Exploration and Production Company Ltd, Ikemefuna Okafor, in a statement stated: “Fire Incident On The Trinity Spirit FPSO, 10 crew members were aboard the FPSO as at time of the explosion. The management of SEPCOL in receivership, hereby announces the unfortunate incident of a fire that engulfed our offshore facility, the FPSO Trinity Spirit located at the Ukpokiti Terminal, following an explosion during the early hours of Wednesday, February 2, 2022.
“At this time there are no reported fatalities, but we can confirm that there were 10 crewmen onboard the vessel prior to the incident and we are prioritizing investigations with respect to their safety and security, “Okafor said.
