The Senate has confirmed President Muhammadu Buhari’s nomination of Mr. Joe Aniku Ohiani as the Director-General (DG) of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC). Ohiani’ confirmation followed his screening by the Committee on Works, Chairman of the Committee, Senator Adamu Aliero said Ohiani intelligently responded to questions regarding how he would apply the knowledge and experience gained in the Commission to improve its activities.

The committee’s report on Ohiani stated that “After careful and diligent assessment of the nominee’s extensive resume, performance during the screening exercise, knowledge, experience and character, the Committee considers him suitable for continuation as the Director-General of the ICRC”.

Prior to his confirmation by the Senate, Ohiani was the acting DG of the ICRC, following the demise of his predecessor, Chidi Izuwah in March 2021.

During his time as acting DG, Ohiani oversaw several projects such as the Nigerian Air project, Lagos-Ibadan Rail e-ticketing concession, and the Onitsha River Port, amongst others.
