The current revised Public Service Rule, capturing the tenure system for Permanent Secretaries would in turn retires over 500 Directors in the Civil Service, hence gives room for career progression of Deputy Directors to rise to the next level.
The Head of Civil Service, Folashade Yemi-Esan has issued a circular of compliance to Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) with the revised Public Service Rules (PSR) that was unveiled last week.
The circular dated July 27, 2023, called on Permanent Secretaries, Accountant-General of the Federation, Auditor-General for the Federation, and Heads of Extra-Ministerial Department to ensure compliance.
Yemi-Esan had declared the implementation of the PSR, during a commemoration public service lecture of the Civil Service Week, held at the Presidential villa in Abuja.
The new rule also added that a Director (GL 17) or its equivalent as may be prescribed by other MDA’s shall compulsorily retire upon the attainment of eight years in that position.
