At least six people have died and more than 50 are being treated in hospital after a huge fire engulfed a tower block in west London in the early hours of the morning, Wednesday.

Seven British-Nigerians have secured seats in various constituents in Thursday’s general election in the United Kingdom, according to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).

The general elections ended up with an unexpected and extraordinary outcome. It was supposed to be the election to consolidate and strengthened Prime Minister Theresa May’s mandate. It was the Brexit Election.

Prime Minister Theresa May is yet to seal a deal to take off with her minority government, as she faces calls to soften her stance on Brexit days before negotiations with EU is to begin. May’s team will resume talks with Northern Ireland’s Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) on a deal to secure their support in parliament after she failed to win an outright majority in the June 8 election.

Theresa May has struck a deal with the Democratic Unionists that will allow her to form a government, sources have confirmed. The prime minister is expected to see the Queen at about 12.30pm on Friday to confirm that a deal is in place.

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Zeid Al-Hussein has apologised to the Federal Government for describing Nigeria as being an “uncooperative” member and blocking multiple UN expert visits to human rights hot spots. According to news reports from News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Al-Hussein’s apology is contained in a letter to Amb. Audu Kadiri, Nigeria’s Ambassador/Permanent Representative to the UN Office and Other International Organisations (UNOG), in Geneva.
