Terrorist Attack Rocks Liverpool City

A taxi was reported to have exploded outside Liverpool Women’s hospital which is not far from Liverpool cathedral where the city’s Remembrance Sunday event was taking place. A taxi driver was reported injured while a he was coveying passenger died at the scene. Merseyside Police has declared the incident as a terrorist attack, however, the motivation is “yet to be understood.”

In a news conference, the Police said the passenger in the cab - a man - had asked to be taken to Liverpool Women’s Hospital, where the explosion took place. The passenger appears to have made an improvised explosive device, Head of Counter Terrorism Policing North West Russ Jackson said.

The passenger died in the blast on Sunday morning, but the driver, named locally as David Perry, escaped with injuries after what has been described by Boris Johnson as "incredible presence of mind and bravery." He has since been discharged from the hospital.

Officers investigating the Liverpool taxi explosion “cannot at this time draw any connection” with Remembrance Sunday events near the Women’s Hospital but confirmed, “it is a line of inquiry.”

The Sunday morning incident has seen the arrest of three men, who has at the time of reporting having been alleged to have been terrorists.
