North Korea has issued new threats against its perceived enemies by threatening to use nuclear weapons to "sink" Japan and reduce the United States to "ashes and darkness", for supporting the UN Security Council Resolution and sanctions over its latest nuclear test. The North's official KCNA news agency on Thursday (14 September) said that the threat comes in response to the UN Security Council (UNSC) adopting tougher sanctions against the Kim Jong-un regime.

Emerging reports indicate that the Israel-Africa summit billed to take place October in Lome, Togo's capital has been postponed indefinitely following reported civil unrest in the country. The Spokesperson of Israel Foreign Ministry, Emmanuel Nahshon made the disclosure in a chat with Al Jazeera. He debunked the claim that the summit was suspended because of threat of boycott.

China, world’s biggest car market, plans to ban the production and sale of diesel and petrol vehicles according to Chinese State media. China’s industry ministry is developing a timetable to end production and sale of traditional fossil fueled cars and will promote the development of electric technology. The development is coming two months after the UK, like Germany, France, India, Norway and Netherlands, revealed plans to ban fuel-run cars, as part of efforts to reduce air pollution.

Myanmar’s leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, will not attend the 72nd United Nations General Assembly which is set to hold in New York.  The spokesman of Suu Kyi, disclosed this on Wednesday, as the leader faces a barrage of criticism over her failure to speak up for Rohingya Muslims fleeing Rakhine state in huge numbers. A crackdown by Myanmar’s army, launched in response to Rohingya militant attacks on August 25, has sent some 379,000 Rohingya refugees scrambling across the border to Bangladesh in less than three weeks.

Turkey has perfected plans to procure Russian-owned missile defense systems in a bid to strengthen national security. Turkey's President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan who made the disclosure on Tuesday stated that relevant document has been signed by both parties for the acquisition of the S-400 surface-to-air missile defense hardware.

China has concluded that radiation levels remain normal in the provinces near the North Korean border after Pyongyang’s most powerful nuclear test yet spurred concerns of residual environmental damage. The Ministry of Environmental Protection announced Sunday it was ending its emergency radiation monitoring in response to the blast last week, which the North claimed was the successful detonation of a hydrogen bomb.
