Lebanon's military on Sunday announced a ceasefire in an ongoing offensive against ISIS at the country's northeast border with Syria. The Military which made the announcement in a statement issued on Sunday stated that the ceasefire took effect from 7am on Sunday. The statement added that the move was aimed at facilitating the release of their soldiers currently in ISIS captivity.
According to Al Jazeera "the army seemed very confident just a couple of days ago that they were going to rid those areas of the last remnants of ISIL fighters. Now the Lebanese government is sending out a message that they care for their soldiers, and are trying to ensure that these soldiers can be released as quickly as possible."
The report stated that the fate of nine of Lebanon's soldiers that ISIS took captive is yet to be ascertained.
