United States President, Donald Trump has disclosed that his administration would "handle North Korea" following the country's second test of intercontinental ballistic missiles last week. On Monday, Trump told reporters at the White House before the commencement of the Cabinet meeting that his administration was taking the Korean issue seriously and assured that measures were being taken to effectively address the issue.
"We'll handle North Korea. We're going to be able to handle North Korea. It will be handled. We handle everything" he said without providing details.
North Korea had conducted the test on Friday from north central North Korea. The missile reportedly travelled 600 miles before dropping into the Sea of Japan. Pyongyang's Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Sunday quoted North Korea's leader, Kim Jong Un as saying that the test was designed to show the Hwasong-14 missile's maximum range with a "large sized heavy nuclear warhead". The statement warned the United States to regard the test as a grave warning as the whole US mainland was now within North Korea's reach.
The news outfits also quoted Korea's Foreign Ministry spokesman as saying "The US needs to stop with its delusion of trying to harm us, by clearly understanding the strategic status of the DPRK which soared up as the world's nuclear and missile power, and our military and peoples' strong will to revenge our enemies to destruction".
Meanwhile, Trump has expressed disappointment in China for failing to curb North Korea's missile program.
"I am very disappointed in China," Trump tweeted. "Our foolish past leaders have allowed them to make hundreds of billions of dollars a year in trade, yet they do NOTHING for us with North Korea, just talk."
