The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has approved Lysol Disinfectant Spray made by UK-based Reckitt Benckiser Group Plc. for use against COVID-19. In a statement, EPA said it has approved the use of two products Lysol Disinfectant Spray and Lysol Disinfectant Max Cover Mist, for use against COVID-19 after laboratory testing proved the products were effective against the deadly virus.

The agency said these are the "first List N products" which the agency has reviewed laboratory testing data and approved label claims.

The Administrator, Andrew Wheeler, said EPA remains dedicated to identifying new tools and providing accurate and up-to-date information to help the American public protect themselves and their families from COVID-19.

The
marketing director for Lysol, Ferran Rousaud, in a statement said “Lysol is currently testing the efficacy of other disinfectant products in the brand portfolio.

Lysol’s parent company has cautioned people against using disinfectants to treat the new coronavirus after U.S. President Donald Trump suggested researchers attempt putting disinfectants into patients’ veins.
