The National Association of Resident Doctors, NARD, have issued the Federal Government a two weeks ultimatum to implement a minimum wage and hazard allowance or meet their wrath in form of indefinite industrial action. The threat was issued through a communiqué jointly signed by the NARD President Dr. Dare Ishaya; Secretary General, Suleiman Abiodun, and Publicity Secretary, Alfa Yusuf and was made available to pressmen yesterday at the end of the National Executive Council Meeting and Scientific conference of the Association.

On behalf of their colleagues, the NARD call on the Nigerian Governors Forum, the Federal Government, and well-meaning individuals to prevail on Governors of Gombe, Imo, Ondo, and, Ekiti states to immediately offset the backlog of the Doctors' allowances and salaries being owed by their members before the next two weeks.

The group also urged the Federal Government to expedite action on the payment of the newly reviewed Medical Registry Training Fund (MRTF) within the next two weeks to enable its members to pay for their examination registration before the closing date as published by the examination body for the postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, NPMCN.

Meanwhile, the Doctors also call on the federal and the state government to thoroughly investigate the cases of assault against medical doctors in hospitals with the aim of curbing the further occurrence of such ugly incidents.
