Appeal Court Upholds Death Sentence For Maryam Sanda

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has upheld the conviction and death sentence that was passed to Maryam Sanda, daughter-in-law to a onetime Peoples Democracy Party Chairman Mr. Mohammed Bello Haliru.

Former Chairman of Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT) Abdulrasheed Abdullahi Maina, has arrived in Nigeria, after his extradition from the Niger Republic. Maina, who was declared wanted by a court of competent jurisdiction, was arrested on 30th November, this year through the collaborative efforts of the operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, INTERPOL NCB, Abuja, and their Nigerien counterpart.

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu has on Friday vowed not to allow violent protests to be carried out in the country, noting that the Nigerian Police are combat-ready for any attempt in the breakdown of law and order. Adamu made this known during a meeting with command commissioners of police in Abuja, saying masterminds of the violence during the #EndSARS protest in Edo state including inmates that escaped from the Edo Correctional Centre have been arrested.
