The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has commenced biometric verification of the 1.8 million candidates across the 36 states and the FCT, who sat for the 2019 UTME, further delaying the results of the examinations.
According to Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, JAMB Registrar, the board has currently concluded verification exercise in 31 states, with six more to go. Oloyede explained that the exercise is a time consuming scientific process, which includes fingerprints analyses in a bid to rid the education system of malpractice.
He added that staff members, as well as computer-based test centres, found involved in examination malpractice would be dealt with accordingly.
The registrar said the board is conducting all necessary checks thoroughly so as to avoid mistakes, and once the verification exercise is concluded, the 2019 UTME results would be released.
