Breaking News: NPF Dissolves SARS

The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has officially dissolved the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, relayed this message during a press conference held October 11, 2020. He stated that the police officers deployed under SARS, will now be deployed for other purposes and a new anti-robbery squad with the same objectives as SARS will be named later. The principal law enforcement and the lead security agency in Nigeria boss added that conducts, members and activities of their unit investigated with collaboration with civil societies organisation - when found wanting, identified culprits within the force will be punished.

IGP Orders AIGs And CPs To Sack, Prosecute Unruly Police Officers

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has issued an order to all Assistant Inspectors-General in charge of zonal commands and also state Commissioners of Police to detain and dismiss from the Nigeria Police Force any officer, found guilty of violating the rights of the citizens. The IGP has further issued a directive in a letter for a compilation of recent cases of violation of citizens’ rights and abuse of power by the FSARS, Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Special Tactical Squad (STS), Special Anti Cultism Squad (SACS) and other similar teams, to be forwarded to his office by Friday.
