Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba Languages Made Compulsory For Recruitment By Nigerian Army
The Nigerian Army has ordered its personnel to learn the three major languages in the country by December 2018. It also advised prospective candidates to endeavour to learn the Nigerian languages other than their mother tongues to better stand the chance of being recruited or commissioned into the Nigerian Army.
According to the Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman, in a statement he highlighted that, the directive forms part of a new language policy in the army aimed at fostering unity, better communication with the populace and information gathering.
FG, Turkey Sign MoU On Illicit Arms Proliferation
The Federal Government on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU with its Turkish counterpart to curtail the alarming influx of arms, ammunitions and illicit cargoes into the country. The MoU was signed by the Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Services, Col. Hammed Ali (rtd) on behalf of the Federal Government.
Anambra Election: Police Recover Two Bombs
Unconfirmed reports indicate that the Anambra State Police Command has recovered two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) near Onitsha North Police Station. According to Dailypost, the IEDs were recovered around 12:30 pm after a distress call was made to the Police by residents in the area.
