The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, on Monday ordered the redeployment of troops who participated in the special military exercise in the Niger Delta to Lake Chad region.

Buratai announced the redeployment at the closing of Exercise Crocodile Smile II in Igwuruta, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers.

Nigeria has pledged its continued commitment to supporting the International Court of Justice as demonstrated by acceptance of the court’s ruling on border dispute between Nigeria and Cameroon. Nigeria’s Ambassador/Permanent Representative to the UN, Amb. Samson Itegboje, made this known while delivering the country’s statement on “The Report of the International Court of Justice’’ in New York.

The Nigerian military on Wednesday said it was investigating reports that a recent bombing raid killed one of the wives of Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau. Fighter jets attacked what was said to be “a large gathering of Boko Haram terrorists” at the Durwawa settlement, near Urga in the Konduga area of Borno state on October 19.

The military said that it has recorded huge success in ridding the Niger Delta of crime in its ongoing Operation Crocodile Smile II.

Tit said the operational activities within 6 Division Area of Responsibility has since its commencement made the arrest of many suspects for various criminal offences including kidnap, armed robbery, cultism, illegal oil bunkering among other crimes.
