Aviation Workers To Commence Warning Strike

Aviation unions have insisted on executing the warning strike proposed last week which will result in shutting down of airports across Nigeria. The two-day warning strike, which will commence today Monday April 17, is premised on the alleged non-release of the union’s reviewed Condition of Service negotiated with four aviation agencies over seven years in addition to the planned demolition of Lagos offices of some agencies. The development could leave many air passengers stranded in Abuja, Lagos, and other airports in the country.

IGP, PSC Chair Meets With Former IGPs

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Usman Baba, and the Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), Solomon Arase, a retired IGP, met with other former IGPs on Wednesday at the PSC Corporate Headquarters, Jabi, Abuja. The meeting which was initiated by Arase had former IGPs in attendance such as Sunday Ehindero, Ogbonna Onovo, Mike Okiro, and the incumbent Chairman of the Police Trust Fund, Suleiman Abba.

Gunmen attacked refugees at a primary school at Mgban in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State and killed no fewer than 34 people. It was revealed that the incident happened in the late hours on 7th April 2023. This is coming less than 48 hours after the gruesome killing of over 40 persons at the Umogidi in Otukpo LGA of the state. Chairman of the LGA, Mike Aba, who spoke through the security officer of the local government, Christopher Waku, described the attack as genocide.

The Presidency has revealed that the appointment of service chiefs is not based on the principle of federal character and ethnic balancing. This was made known on Monday night by the presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina while speaking on the Politics Today program aired by Channels Television.

IGP Redeploys 21 AIGs To Commands, Formation

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba has ordered the posting and redeployment of 21 Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) to various Departments, Commands, and Formations. This was revealed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa in a statement on 8th April 2023. This redeployment was in line with the IGPs mandate to strengthen the operational structures of commands, departments, and formations.
