NIS: Scarcity Of International Passport Will End By March

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has assured Nigerians that delay of international passport renewal or issuance of new passports will no longer be an issue by March 2022. This was disclosed by the Acting Comptroller-General, NIS, Isa Idris during a virtual media interaction on Saturday. According to him, the launch of the enhanced e-passport with improved features would help to address this issue.

Nigerian Navy Vows To Arrest Naval Personnel Involved In Criminality

The Nigerian Navy said that it would investigate and punish naval personnel colluding with criminals involved in oil bunkering and other maritime criminals sabotaging the nation's economy. This was made known by the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral A.Z. Gambo on Thursday during the decoration ceremony of newly promoted senior officers of the Nigerian Navy.

20-Year-Old Notorious Bandit Kingpin, Mai Yanmata Arrested In Zamfara

The Police in Zamfara State have arrested a suspected notorious bandit kingpin called Sani Mati better known as Mai Yanmata. The wanted criminal arrested by the Tactical Operatives in Zurmi Local Government Area (LGA) of the state hails from Mayasa village. Maiyammata is said to be formerly a member of the gang of bandits led by Bello Turfi, but now with another wanted kingpin, Kachalla Sani-Black. Sani-Black is said to operate along Zurmi, Shinkafi and Birnin Magaji LGAs. The Commissioner of Police, Ayuba Elkanah, said he was arrested while attempting to kidnap passengers at Koliya village. “On December 26, 2021 at about 0500 hours, police tactical operatives deployed along Zurmi axis while on confidence-building patrol acted on an intelligent operation that led to the arrest of a notorious bandit named Sani Mati also known as Mai Yanmata,” the police commissioner said.

President Buhari Appoints DCG Karebo As Acting CG, Federal Fire Service

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Deputy Comptroller-General (DCG) Karebo Samson as the acting Comptroller General (CG) of the Federal Fire Service (FFS). Karebo is expected to replace the outgoing FFS CG, Dr. Liman Ibrahim, who is due for retirement. This was announced on Thursday in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, FFS, Ugo Huan.

We will support individual who wish to defend themselves with weapon – Masari

Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina state says, his administration will support residents who are genuinely prepared to procure weapons to defend themselves against bandits. The bulk landmass of Katsina state has come under siege by terrorist Fulani Bandits in recent times which has fueled criminal activities like kidnapping for ransom and looting of villages. Governor Masari made this promise during a media parley in Katsina yesterday, saying it is unfortunate how men underworld have easy access to assault weapons while good people live in perpetual fear with nowhere to run.
