Security Operatives Arrest Suspected ISWAP Members In Abuja

A joint operation launched by the Department of State Services (DSS), the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), the police and other security agencies has successfully dismantled a terror cell and arrested five Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) commanders and 30 fighters in several areas in Abuja. It was revealed that the suspects were captured in difference areas within the FCT at their hideouts and Mararaba.


The arrests were made amidst heightened tension in and around satellite towns in the FCT which has provoked compelling actions by residents including closure of shopping malls and workers staying away from work.

The management of the popular Jabi Lake Mall in Abuja, FCT, said it shut down its operations because they reviewing the security situation with appropriate authorities and that it would be reopened soon.
