Ahead of the 2019 General Elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State has ruled out the possibility of the party imposing candidates on its members. Chairman of the party in the state, Alhaji Ado Sani Kiri stated this while addressing newsmen yesterday in Dutse, the state capital.

The acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, yesterday said that he was not discouraged by the non-confirmation of his appointment by the Senate. He also advised journalists to desist from accepting bribes in form of brown envelopes.

The Nigerian AIR Force on Sunday took delivery of five additional Super Mushsak aircrafts earlier purchased by the Federal Government from Pakistan to assist the ongoing war against Boko Haram. The aircrafts which were delivered yesterday in NAF Base, Kaduna, were brought in by an Ilyushin 76 strategic Airlifter.

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo will today deliver the inaugural keynote lecture at Harvard Business School, as the university introduces a new course, “Africa Rising”. According to a statement by Laolu Akande, his spokesman, Osinbajo would during the lecture, highlight the progress made by the Buhari administration in improving the country’s economy and investment climate. The vice-president is expected back in Abuja on Wednesday.

On Sunday, the supporters of the Governor of Kano state, Umar Ganduje and those of the former Governor of the state, Musa Kwankwaso engaged in a free-for-all at Chiranchi quarters in Gwale Local Government Area of the state, with six people sustaining various degrees of injuries.

Chief Victor Umeh of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) has been declared the winner of the Anambra Central Senatorial re-run elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Saturday. The returning officer, Prof. Charles Esimone who declared the result on Sunday morning said Umeh having scored the highest number of votes with 64, 878 was the winner of the contest and returned elected.
