President Muhammadu Buhari has encouraged the newly-elected and returning governors to deliver on their campaign promises or get ready to be voted out in the next elections. Buhari spoke on Monday during the induction of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) organised ahead of the May 29 inauguration. President Buhari was represented by Ibrahim Gambari, his chief of staff who stressed that Buhari’s government has tackled the nation’s challenges, including infrastructure, agriculture and strengthening the armed forces. “The road has been bumpy due to a challenging fiscal climate, but I am proud to state as we leave office in about two weeks, that we have built a firm foundation for a prosperous Nigeria,” Buhari said. “Despite the difficult fiscal conditions, we remained committed to our promises. These key areas were strategically targeted.

President-elect, Bola Tinubu Jets Out Of Nigeria Ahead Swearing-in

Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Wednesday, left Nigeria for Europe with many speculations going around that the President-elect is on a working visit to meet with potential investors. This was contained in a statement issued by the President-elect media aid, Tunde Rahman. Tinubu will also use the opportunity to make his final preparations for his inauguration without Unnecessary pressure and distractions come May 29.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) announced on Thursday that Nigeria’s President-elect, Bola Tinubu, is currently taking a rest in Europe ahead of his inauguration on May 29. Felix Morka, the APC National Publicity Secretary, confirmed this during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme.

President Buhari Approves Appointment of 6 Permanent Secretaries

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday approved the appointment of 6 new permanent secretaries in the Federal Civil Service which was made known in a statement by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF). According to the statement, the new appointees include Mahmud Kambari from Borno State, Esuabana Asanye from Cross River State, Lamuwa Ibrahim from Gombe State, Yakubu Kofar-Mata from Kano State, Oloruntola Michael from Ogun State and Richard Pheelangwah from Taraba State.

Presidential Election Tribunal Begins Pre-hearing Today

The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal will begin hearing of the petitions filed before it by aggrieved opposition parties against the election of the President-elect, Bola Tinubu today, Monday May 8. The petition, jointly filed by Obi and his party, has the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), All Progressives Congress (APC), Tinubu, and Kashim Shettima as the respondents. Atiku Abubakar, former vice president and PDP presidential candidate, who is among the petitioners hinged his petition on five grounds asking the court to order the electoral body to conduct a fresh election following alleged irregularities at polling units during the presidential poll.

Labour Party Jettisons national chairman’s suspension

The Labour Party on Friday dismissed the purported suspension of its national chairman, Julius Abure, by its Ward Executive in Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State, saying the masterminds were being sponsored by opposition parties. The LP said no reasonable party member would be thinking of suspension when they are pursuing their presidential mandate in the Election Petition Tribunal and all other mandates including the Governorship, Senate and House of Representatives that were brazenly stolen.

Breaking: PDP Chairman, Ayu Steps Aside

The embattled National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Iyorchia Ayu has reportedly stepped aside from his position, however, according to reports, the party’s Deputy National Chairman (North), Umar Damagum would be acting chairman until further notice. A High Court sitting in Markudi, Benue State on Monday, restrained Ayu from parading himself as the party’s chairman until the determination of the substantive suit which was adjourned to April 17, 2023, for hearing.
