The Nigeria Police on Wednesday re-arrested the senator representing Kogi West in the Senate, Dino Melaye on Wednesday after a Magistrate Court sitting in Abuja granted him bail. Recall that the embattled senator was arraigned before the court in Wuse Zone 2 after spending few days at the National Hospital's Trauma Centre where he is receiving medical attention.

The Senator was arraigned on charges bordering on his alleged escape from a police vehicle in Abuja on April 24, 2018.

The presiding magistrate, Mabel Segun-Bello, had granted him bail in the sum of N90m. Although he allegedly met the bail condition, the Police were reported to have taken him into custody again.

His counsel, Nkem Okoro who spoke to Punch said

“He met his bail conditions but the police decided to re-arrest him on the excuse that they were taking him to Lokoja tomorrow morning,”
