President Bola Tinubu has written to the Senate, seeking its confirmation of three more ministerial nominees. Senate President Godswill Akpabio read a letter from President Tinubu requesting the above when the lawmakers resumed plenary session on Tuesday. The nominees are Balarabe Abbas Lawal from Kaduna State, Dr Jamila Bio Ibrahim from Kwara State, and Mr Ayodele Olawande from Ondo State.
Abbas Balarabe was nominated as the replacement for the former Kaduna Governor, Nasir El-Rufai who was expected to head the ministry of power.
Dr Jamila Bio Ibrahim, a 37-year-old medical doctor, politician, and development practitioner is an indigene of Kwara. Her father, Ibrahim Bio, was the former minister of sports in the Goodluck Jonathan administration.
Olawale Olawande, who was born and raised in Lagos is a community development expert and youth leader in the governing All Progressives Congress (APC).
Olawande most recently served in the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Innovation from 2019 to 2023. He also served as the youth leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo state.
The fresh nomination is coming barely three months after the upper chamber of the National Assembly confirmed 45 nominees with various portfolios.
