Ogun: Tribunal Dismisses PDP Counsel's Application

The Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun State, has dismissed the application filed by the counsel to People's Democratic Party (PDP), Gordy Uche, SAN, seeking a stand down after witnesses presented damning evidence against petitioners. Four witnesses, Oyegunle Suleiman, from Sagamu, Mr. Ifetayo Ifede, from Ikenne, and Adelani Yemi, from Abeokuta North, including an official of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Mr. Omotilewa, had appeared before the panel to give evidence backed up by documents against PDP, alleging electoral infraction, ranging from manipulation, disruption of the electoral process, as well as inducement through the preloaded ATM cards with the inscription of Ladi Adebutu’s late mother. All the witnesses convincingly proved and defended their statements with appropriate documents tendered to the tribunal and subsequently adopted and marked as exhibits.

The pan-Yoruba socio-political group, (Afinefere) through its Secretary-General, Mr. Sola Ebiseni, in a statement on Friday has in strong terms condemned the present Administration over the hard time the citizens of Nigeria are facing as a result of the removal of fuel subsidy, stating that the government should alleviate the suffering by reducing the cost of governance in the country.
