National Assembly Reschedules Plenary Resumption To Jan 30

The National Assembly has rescheduled its plenary resumption to January 30, 2024, which was made known in a statement made by the Clerk to The House of Representatives, Yahaya Danzaria and addressed to the Senate and the House of Representatives.

Kano: Abba Yusuf Names Ganduje, Kwankwaso As Council Members

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has appointed predecessors, Abdullahi Ganduje (APC) and Rabiu Kwankwaso (NNPP) as members of Kano State Elders Council. Yusuf during a presser added that aside from the two former governors, other members of the council include deputy governors, senate presidents, and speakers of both the national and state assemblies who are indigenes of the state.

Apex Court Upholds Alia's Electoral Victory As Benue Gov

The apex bank has dismissed an appeal against the election of Governor Hycinth Alia of Benue State. Supreme Court consequently affirmed the election of the governor. This follows the withdrawal of the appeal by counsel to Mr. Titus Uba of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sebastian Hon.Uba had challenged the victory of Alia of the All Progressives Congress (APC). However, the Election Petitions Tribunal and the Court of Appeal in Abuja, affirmed Alia’s election as Benue governor, following his declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the winner of the March 18 governorship election.

President Tinubu Suspends NSIPA Boss, Halima Shehu

President Bola Tinubu has approved the suspension of Halima Shehu as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the National Coordinator of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA) over financial misappropriation. With the suspension of Shehu and investigation into the allegations of financial embezzlement leveled against her, Dr Akindele Egbuwalo, the National N-POWER Program Manager, has been appointed in an acting capacity as NC/CEO pending the conclusion of the investigation.

Edo 2024: Former Speaker, Others Step Down For Asue Ighodalo 

Support he member of the House of Representatives, representing Esan West, Esan Central and Igueben Federal Constituency and leading governorship aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Hon Marcus Onobun has stepped down from the race, declaring his total support for the former Chairman of Sterling Bank Plc, Dr. Asue Ighodalo. This is as Senator Clifford Ordia has also dropped his governorship ambition for Ighodalo. Ordia was the immediate past Senator who represented Edo Central senatorial district in the Red Chamber.

I’ll sustain Akeredolu’s legacies - Aiyedatiwa

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has promised to sustain the legacies of his predecessor, the late Oluwarotimi Akeredolu. Mr. Aiyedatiwa said this during a candlelight procession organized by members of the Nigeria Bar Association, Ondo State chapter, in honor of the late Akeredolu, at Government House, Akure, on Friday night. He described the late Akeredolu as a fearless legal luminary and a dedicated leader. The governor said the late Akeredolu’s commitment to justice and service to the people earned him the title of “Senior Advocate of the Masses.”
