President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is expected to return to the country on Monday, a month after leaving the shores for a vacation in Paris, France. It was also gathered that Mr Tinubu will be received at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja by his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima, as well as other All Progressives Congress (APC) top guns.

Pardon Me If I Hurt You - President Buhari Pleads

President Muhammadu Buhari has apologised to Nigerians particularly those who may have been hurt by actions of his administration. The President also pleaded with all those he has hurt in the course of steering the affairs of state since he assumed office almost eight years ago to pardon him. “Thank you for tolerating me…I consider myself lucky to have been a Governor, Minister and Head of State and now President for two terms,” Buhari told the guests. President Buhari spoke at the final Sallah homage, which took place yesterday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. His words: “I think this is a very good coincidence for me to say goodbye to you and to thank you for tolerating me for more than seven and half years now. I assure you, I have deliberately arranged to be as far away from you as possible not, because I don’t appreciate the love you’ve shown to me, but because I think I’ve gotten what I have asked and I would rather quietly retire to my hometown.

Adamawa: Fintiri Declared Winner, INEC Takes REC’s Case To FG

The Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, on Tuesday was declared the winner of the state governorship poll by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer Prof Mohammed Mele. Fintiri who is securing a second term in office under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) scored 430,861 votes to beat the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Aisha Dahiru Binani, who amassed 398,788 votes. Also on Tuesday, INEC disclosed it has requested the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, to draw the attention of “the appointing authority” to the behavior of the state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Hudu Yunusa Ari who went ahead and controversially declared Binani as the winner. Binani was trailing Fintiri by over 31, 000 votes in the first round of the election held on March 18.

Taraba National Assembly Member-elect Maihanchi Is Dead

The member-elect for Jalingo, Yorro, Zing constituency in Taraba State, Ismaila Yushau Maihanchi is dead. Maihanchi, who contested the National Assembly election on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and was elected died in the early hours of Saturday in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT following a brief illness. Confirming the report, the spokesperson of the PDP Andeta’rang Irammae, said “Shortly after the election, the member-elect fell sick and has been receiving medical treatment in Abuja.”

NASS Announces Induction Dates of Senators, Reps-elect

The National Assembly (NASS) has announced it is set for the induction of the Senators and Reps-elect of the 10th parliamentary session, pending the formal release of the final list by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). This was disclosed in a statement released on Thursday in Abuja by Ali Umoru, Chairman, Sub-Committee on Media and Publicity, stating that the first batch of induction is scheduled for May 7 and 8 while the second batch is slated for May 14 and 15, 2023.

Dino Melaye Clinches Kogi PDP Governorship Ticket

Senator Dino Melaye has won the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary election in Kogi State having secured the highest number of votes in the indirect primary conducted by the party on Sunday in Lokoja, the State capital. The two-time member of the National Assembly polled 313 votes to defeat the closest rival, Ilona Kingsley who polled 124 votes.
