Senate Passes Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit Bill

The Senate on Wednesday passed the bill setting up the Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) as an independent body.

The NFIU is currently under the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Peace Corps Bill: Senate Asks Buhari To Reconsider Decision

The Senate has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to reconsider his decision of withholding assent on the bill to establish Peace Corps of Nigeria.

Senate Throws Out Bill Seeking To Modify NYSC Female Uniform

The Senate has thrown out a bill which seeks to amend the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Act.

The bill seeks to give female corps members the option of wearing skirts instead of trousers as mandated by the NYSC.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has donated the sum of $10million to Nigeria to aid the nation’s fight against the insurgency, according to the team leader from Saudi Arabia. The donation is part of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Programme. The team leader, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Defence Ministry, Nasir Mutbak, on Monday, told journalists that the donation is expected to aid the provision of food and other basic amenities in IDP camps in the North-East Region of the country.
