Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters has responded to a comment by the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu on the Nigerian Military, while contributing to a debate on a motion sponsored by Senator Ahmed Ogembe, representing Kogi Central. Ekweremadu had stated that “The problem in Nigeria is that our democracy is receding. Who says army cannot take over, let us not joke with our democracy that is the issue”.

The National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu who has been mandated to reconcile all aggrieved and feuding members of the party appears to be aggrieved following the recent decision by the National Executive Committee of the party to extend the tenure of the National Chairman of the party, Chief John Oyegun by additional one year.

The Senate has asked its ethics committee to probe an alleged plot against the Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

At Thursday’s plenary, Senator Obinna Ogba representing Ebonyi Central, accused Senator Abdullahi Adamu of allegedly planning to destabilize the Senate.

He further alleged that Senator Adamu is planning to organize protests against the Senate President at the National Assembly.

Some parents of the girls abducted by Boko Haram terrorists from Government Girls Science and Technical College, Dapchi Yobe state, on Thursday, protested to National Assembly, demanding total probe into the incident and actions that would lead to the quick recovery of their daughters.

President Muhammadu Buhari has led the goodwill messages at his Vice, Yemi Osinbajo, turned 61 Thursday.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to rather use the benefit of his state visit to Ghana to draw lessons from his Ghanaian counterpart, President Nana Akufo-Addo.

In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary Kola Ologbondiyan on Wednesday, the opposition party advised the President to learn how Ghana is being run to be a peaceful, united and economically vibrant nation.

They criticised President Buhari for offering to assist Ghana in her war against corruption after the Transparency International revealed in its recent report that corruption has worsened in Nigeria.
