The House of Representatives on Tuesday at plenary summoned all Service chiefs and heads of security agencies. This followed the abduction of 110 girls from Government Secondary School in Dapchi, Yobe State on Monday last week by Boko Haram sect.

President Muhammadu Buhari has declined his assent to the Peace Corp Establishment bill passed by the National Assembly last year. The President's decision was conveyed in a letter read by the speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, on Tuesday at plenary. The President in the letter cited security concerns and financial implications amongst reasons for his decision.

The Code of Conduct Tribunal on Tuesday adjourned the trial of Senate President Bukola Saraki till March 8 to enable the defence reply to the prosecution’s written address, Premiumtimes reports. According to the report, Tuesday's hearing started with an argument between the defence counsel, Kanu Agabi (SAN), and prosecution counsel, Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), on who submitted his brief late.

The Acting Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Mr Tony Ojukwu has called on the Nigerian Military and other security agencies to evolve measures to end the continued abduction and violation of the right to education of girls in North-East Nigeria.
